This video is about how to make and use fermented oranges. This recipe can be adapted for fermenting any citrus fruit.

In this video, I'm going to take you through the easy steps to create delicious and nutritious fermented citrus fruits that you can use in cooking.The greatest thing about fermented oranges or citrus fruits is that it can be used in different ways. You could add the rind to salads, use the flesh and rind to flavour curries or soups, you could also use them in salad dressings or in baked goods. Learn how to make this tasty treat right now and impress your friends with your culinary skills!

INGREDIENTS
1. Oranges/ tangerines (or any citrus fruit of your choice)
2. Cloves
3. Water
4. Sea salt

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Wash oranges, you could soak them in vinegar or scrub them with baking soda to remove impurities
2. Cut oranges in 4 without detaching
3. Add salt to the insides of oranges
4. Add cloves and a tablespoon of salt to jar and place oranges in jar. Push the oranges down so that the jar is tightly packed
5. Add water until oranges are fully submerged in water
6. Add weights to further keep oranges submerged.
7. Seal the jar tightly and leave to ferment for 3-4 weeks
8. Once jar is opened, transfer to refrigerator
***fermented oranges or any citrus fruit can last for up to 1 year
****remember to always wash your hands and utensils before making any fermented food
