If you are looking for a true authentic Croatian experience, take a look at the southern side of the island of Hvar. Here you will find untouched beauty of nature, authentic uncrowded beaches, oldest vineyards in the entire Croatia. Among many beautiful beaches in the area we recommend visiting Ivan Dolac, a little village by the sea on the southern side of Hvar.
The path to this village is somewhat challenging, but definitely rewarding. On your way you will get through Pitve tunnel - one-way, without lighting, resembling an old cave. It is regulated by a traffic light at each entrance, making it the only traffic light on the entire island. Built in 1963 for the water supply needs of the southern part of the island and the town of Hvar, it connects the villages of Pitve and Zavala. After passing through the tunnel, relax at the Ivan Dolac beach - crystal blue sea and warm small pebbles will make sure no worries found you there. In case some trouble still haunts you – disperse it with a glass of wine. And make it the very best wine – from local grapes Plavac Mali.
Only 5 kilometers away, find an underwater wine cellar “Bilo Idro” and a restaurant above, another unique experience on the island. Taste the rich selection of wines from Zlatan Otok winery who ripe their grapes on the hills right above the wine cellar – wines of high quality that have been recognized amongst enologists throughout the world.
Their most famous and award-winning wine, Zlatan Plavac Grand Select, has gained cult status among those who appreciate only the finest drops. Finish your day walking the narrow streets of the Hvar Old Town, which is our next stop.

Explore this part of the island for a true authentic unforgettable experience!
