Budae-jjigae, meaning ‘military stew,’ is a Korean soup dish that is as thick as a Western stew. This is a stew that some people boiled and ate using surplus food, such as ham and sausage, left over from the American units stationed in Seoul due to a food shortage in Seoul right after the Korean War.
Nowadays, it is a stew that Koreans love very much,
Even foreigners who are unfamiliar with it taste it and love it.
