Dominant silverback Lengai adores the youngest member of the group, Upala.

He enjoys playing with Upala but also shows off his strength to establish who’s the boss.

• Gorillas typically live 35 years in the wild, but in captivity, with better care and no predators, they can live up to 50-60 years.

• You can help gorillas by recycling your old cell phones and electronics. These devices contain a mineral called coltan, which is mined in gorilla habitats. Recycling reduces the demand for coltan and helps protect these amazing animals. Gorilla populations have declined by approximately 25% over the past 20 to 25 years due to habitat loss, poaching, and disease.

Due to background noise from human activity, the original audio has been mixed with natural bird songs for a more peaceful viewing experience. Where possible, I will keep the natural sound intact.
