This video commemorates the final moments of gorilla mother Tamidol, filmed at the end of June when her baby Makongo was 14 weeks old. Despite appearing calm and occasionally drowsy, Tamidol’s health had been in decline.

Due to severe health issues, including multiple abscesses, Tamidol was euthanized. She will be remembered for her love of playing in the snow and her tender care of Makongo.

Currently, Makongo is under the care of matriarch Dalila. Tamidol will continue to watch over her baby from heaven.
