In a major shift in the conservation movement, the ILI is taking over the leadership of the International Boreal Conservation Campaign. We are honoured and proud to assume this role. IBCC is one of the longest running, most successful conservation initiatives in the country, and it has long respected and upheld Indigenous Nations’ rights and authority. Now together we are taking the next step in the process of decolonizing conservation. ILi is absorbing IBCC’s assets, staff, and relationships with funders. This transition recognizes that it’s time for Indigenous Peoples to step to the forefront and determine the future of conservation and stewardship within their homelands.
