“We have the vision, we have the plan and we have the people to do the work.” We want to take some time to highlight the work of Indigenous nations already underway: In Northern B.C, the Kaska are working to protect one of the largest intact landscapes left in British Columbia. Dene K’éh Kusān – which means Always Will Be There – is a proposed Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area at the heart of Kaska territory. Home to lush wetlands and at-risk wildlife, learn about the Kaska’s work to protect these lands in a way that supports healing, creates economic opportunity, and sustains the land for all people.
