I was surprised when this noise popped up. I so vaguely remember it before parking the Forester in the backyard for a few years. Even after driving it for the past 6 months, the noise just suddenly worsened. I noticed mostly while applying throttle and on the right side.

Surprise number two came when I discovered the front CV shafts I had on hand weren't going to work for the Forester. The old style CV shaft with the roll pin on the inner joint are useable up to 2002 Forester and 2003 Impreza, including WRX. The later style shaft is useable up to 2008 Forester and 2007 Impreza. All automatic transmission shafts are the same, in all years, left to right. Manual transmission shafts are not interchangeable between turbo and non-turbo models but otherwise the shafts specific to those transmissions are still the same left and right. Another benefit to Subaru's symmetrical setup.

Thanks for watching! Forester is all ready to go on it's trip into the mountains. O2 sensor repair and CV shaft done, it's ready to go. Trip footage coming up next! STAY TUNED!
