American Optical Coverglas Goggles

Founded in 1869 and known as the American Optical Company was started in Southbridge, Massachusetts. The company is now known as AO Eyewear. In 1892, American Optical Company's production was about two million frames and a million pairs of lenses per year. There is very little historical information on internet regarding the “Coverglas” product brand. I have to assume goggles in my video are an early 1960 vintage based on condition of the materials and my source for these safety goggles. A design movement and aesthetic known as Steampunk started in 2003 fueled an intense interest in the style of goggles featured in this video. Also, this type of goggles is featured prominently in the Minions movies.

This restoration took less than 2 hours.

All video was captured and edited using an iPhone 8 Plus, an iMac with iMovie and Photoshop.
