Watch a restoration of a Vintage Westinghouse Cat. No. 12 LA 3 oscillating fan (circa 1950, 2 speed, 14") in the very cool Art Deco style. This fan did not work when I obtained it. There was an obvious attempt to repair this fan as the wiring was not original and electrician’s tape was used to insulate the leads to the motor’s coil. I have attempted to upgrade this fan with new components where possible and used items that, style wise, matched the period. I also installed a grounded circuit which required replacing the 2-wire lead with a 3-wire lead. The original finish has been retained as it was not in bad condition. The cage has lost most of the chrome finish and is badly pitted but has been clean and polished. However, the aluminum blades polished up beautiful and are a focal point of this vintage beauty.

And this Westinghouse will blow a breeze that will part your hair!

Total time invested in these restoration was about 30 hours. It can be done a lot quicker if not for making a YouTube video.

All video was captured and edited using an iPhone 8 Plus, an iMac with iMovie and Photoshop.
