For many years growing up on a small farm in New England, I had tractor envy. All of the nearby farms had a least on tractor. Some had more than one, a few seemed to have a fleet of them.

There were red ones, green ones, yellow ones, rusty ones and others that looked like they never plowed a field in their life but in many cases were decades old, loved and cared for like a prized show horse.

As I grew up my interests shifted towards the sea and for a short while my interest love and envy of my neighbors many tractors faded away.

And then four decades later and a huge change in my life saw me move back to the seacoast of New Hampshire and the proud owner of a lovely old farm.

Once again, I had tractor envy like I had not experienced in years. My neighbor across the street had three and others all seemed have at least one and often more.

Everywhere I went, I was envious of all the beautiful tractors that seemed to be in every barn, garage and outbuilding.

I patiently watched each come and go here on Bring-A-Trailer but never took the chance to try and bid on one.

A few months back a good friend and client bought this one. He had no use for it but recognized it was pure perfection and utterly and totally breathtakingly beautiful. A mechanical wonder that’s original purpose had evolved into mechanical, industrial artwork for a new generation of enthusiasts, most of whom don’t have a farm and would never use it for its originally intended purpose.

When he traded it to our company, I though now finally here is my chance to have a tractor for our new family farm.

I discussed it with my wife, children, other family members and all my friends and neighbors. The consensus was it was impossibly beautiful but something I could not put myself to actually buying and using in any practical way.

It was with great hesitation, procrastination and reluctance that I finally gave in and submitted it back to our friends here at Bring-A-Trailer.

The good news is tomorrow my shipping agent is picking up a 1941 FORD 9N Tractor that I won on BaT a few weeks ago.

It will never be as special, important or as valuable as this Porsche but it will make me smile and I will no longer suffer with tractor envy.
