After discovering it in preview, we spend a little more time with the new Cupra Formentor 2024, a car that represents the flagship of the Spanish brand. Aesthetically, the Formentor stands out for its front "Shark Nose", with a three-dimensional light cluster and a redesigned lower part of the bumper that accentuates the proportions of the vehicle. The redesigned wheels and four-piston Brembo calipers highlight the sporty character, while the backlit rear logo and the Akrapovic exhaust system, available in some versions, complete an exterior design that is more attractive in person than in the photos. The interior has also undergone a significant improvement, with more sustainable materials and new upholstery, while maintaining the Sabelt sports seats and an updated cockpit with a more intuitive HMI.

Moving on to driving dynamics, the real innovation lies in the new 333 HP 2000 TSI engine, which replaces the previous five-cylinder VZ5, while maintaining the Torque Splitter system which guarantees an asymmetric distribution of torque on the rear axle. This makes the Formentor even more balanced and rear-wheel drive-like, despite being an all-wheel drive car. The new engine not only improves performance but also handling, making the Formentor one of the best options for those looking for sporty driving. The possibility of accessing Drift mode and the absence of the accelerator cut-off when braking on the left are details that demonstrate the attention placed by Cupra in developing a car that not only promises high performance but delivers on it.

In addition to the new engine, the 2024 Formentor's engine range includes a 150 HP 1.5 petrol engine, a Mild Hybrid version, and several 2000 TSI engine options with power up to 333 HP. Furthermore, plug-in hybrid versions are available with larger batteries, capable of guaranteeing up to 100 km of electric range. The new Formentor therefore presents itself as a versatile crossover, suitable for different driving needs, while maintaining a sporting soul in every version. Prices start at 37,000 euros for the basic model, but the real value is found in the more powerful and technologically advanced versions. Personally, I am thrilled with the improvements made and highly recommend considering the new Cupra Formentor if you are looking for a car that combines performance and style.
