Welcome to my channel! I'm Sarah, a psychotherapist and author of "I Can't Stop Eating." If you've ever experienced that bottomless feeling around food, where you can't seem to stop eating, this video is for you. Many people struggle with feeling out of control, leading to the belief that they're just greedy. I'll share six reasons for this and insights on how to feel more satisfied.

1. Inadequate Eating After Diets:
Coming off a diet can lead to increased hunger as your brain adjusts hormones. Diets often disrupt the balance between food intake and energy expenditure, driving you to eat more.

2. Disconnection During Eating:
Being distracted or mentally detached while eating makes it difficult to recognize fullness. Mindful eating can help bridge this gap and enhance the satisfaction of your meals.

3. Guilt and Satisfaction:
Feelings of guilt are incompatible with satisfaction. Excessive guilt about eating can hinder your ability to feel content with what you consume.

4. Anticipating Restriction:
Constantly planning restrictive diets triggers your primal brain to urge overeating now, anticipating the impending scarcity. This is known as "last supper eating."

5. Emotional Eating:
Using food to cope with emotions like depression or anxiety can lead to eating for reasons other than hunger, making it challenging to stop when physically satisfied.

6. Lack of Protein and Fiber:
Not consuming enough protein and fiber can affect fullness. A balanced combination of carbohydrates, protein, fat, and fiber is most satiating.

Approach nutritional changes gently, aiming to add in satisfying foods rather than engaging in restrictive battles. Remember, these six reasons may not cover all scenarios, and individual factors play a role. For additional insights, check the comments for honorable mentions and watch my other video on increasing satisfaction.
