This video can't do justice for how beautiful the Thousand Islands Region is. It is one of my favorite places to visit.

Boating paradise. The diversity of this waterway has made the 1000 Islands among the most popular places to go boating in North America.

This destination-for-everyone includes the wide-open waters of northeastern Lake Ontario and the meandering channels and coves of the St. Lawrence River. Every type of boater is found here, ranging from sailors to speedsters to cruisers.

Dotted by more than 1,800 islands, the St. Lawrence River is one of the most picturesque places to throw a wake. The river has safely marked channels and innumerable alternatives, including narrow passageways, peaceful coves and popular anchorages. The open waters of Lake Ontario bring swift breezes especially popular with sailors. Safe harbors and mooring locations make a week-long – or season-long – journey possible.

Thousands of boaters keep their vessels here for the season while nearly as many launch at dozens of ramps scattered throughout the region.

Whether you’re a lifetime boater or looking to rent a craft for the weekend, you’ll find the 1000 Islands to be among the easiest – and most beautiful places – to cruise the water.
