Malaga, Spain wasn't at the top of our list of places to visit, so when we stopped here on our transatlantic cruise with Virgin Voyages from Barcelona, Spain to Miami, Florida on the Valiant Lady we had no idea what to expect. What we found was one of the most beautiful, clean, relaxing cities!

On our first night we visit El Pimpi to try some local Andalusian cuisine. We absolutely loved the pilpil shrimp, and ajo blanco! Next we join a pub crawl for a taste of Malaga nightlife (on Halloween, dressed as Ariel, Prince Eric, & Flounder).

The next day we start at Mesón Mariano a local hot spot! After waiting in a long line, we order several different types of artichokes, sardines in vinegar, and young goat! All Andalusian specialties, and all insanely delicious! I am going to have to learn to make Andalusian food, because we absolutely love everything we've eaten in Malaga so far!

We visit the Roman theater (for free) and learn about how a type of fish sauce made here made this city an important part of the Roman Empire.

Then we head up the Alcazaba for a lesson in the next empire! Built in the 11th century by Muslim-ruled Al-Andalus this palace and fortification combined is filled with gorgeous details and views!

On our way to our final stop we pass by the gorgeous Cathedral de la Encarnacion de Malaga.

After an incredible month in Spain, our last stop is Casa Aranda for our final churros! With a churro cheers, we say goodbye to this amazing, beautiful, delicious country, take in a glorious sunset on the beach, and head back to our cruise with minutes to spare. This truly is the best cruise destination we've ever visited! We had such an incredible time here in Malaga, it is so walkable, beautiful, and filled with things to do, beautiful views, history, and delicious food!!!
