In a significant cabinet meeting led by Minister Imna Along, the government has approved the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Chumoukedima, Niuland, and Dimapur districts. The new policy introduces three categories of residents exempt from ILP requirements: those settled before December 1, 1963, and those settled between December 1, 1963, and November 21, 1979. These individuals will have access to Smart Card facilities and Permanent Residence and Domicile Certificates. Additionally, the cabinet emphasized the importance of enhancing the digital system for ILP issuance, allowing students, teachers, and business investors to secure permits for up to five years at a time.
