Last year we started out boiling maple sap to make our own homemade male syrup. We figured it would be very simple to use a propane cooker to help us achieve that but we quickly realized that this was not a financially sound idea. We turned to using wood to achieve our goal and since we did not have a bonified fire pit we quickly rigged one up with cement blocks and an old grating. This was much better but the outside element with no restrictions on the wind coming in so we burned a lot of firewood.

This is why we decided to make our own low-cost boiler so that it would be more efficient and a whole lot less complicated to achieve our task. We shopped on Amazon for everything that we used except the 45 imperial gallon drum which we purchased locally from someone’s backyard.

This video is about our process to complete our Barrel Stove Boiler and the following is where we got everything that we needed.
