The WDR BIG BAND celebrates the U.S. American jazz singer Kurt Elling and the "Vocal Journey Jazz- und Popchor der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln" with the concert "Kurt Elling Resolution". The arrangements for this concert are by principal conductor Bob Mintzer, with Jörg Achim Keller conducting. Stephan Görg and Erik Sohn have taken over the rehearsal of the guest choir. Kurt Elling sees himself completely in the tradition of classical jazz singing, he wants to, as he describes it, "keep the ball in the air". The American has come a long way with this, he is an internationally sought-after and extremely successful artist. And because he is also very modest, it must be added that Elling always has several balls in play. He is not only a singer, but also a poet, word acrobat and instrumental imitator. He is the sum of all those parts that make up a good vocal sound artist - and thus also an ideal complement to the instrumentalists of the WDR Big Band. The band and the singer have known each other for several years, so this concert with the participation of the university choir "Vocal Journey" with arrangements by chief conductor Bob Mintzer and under the direction of Jörg Achim Keller is a special sound experience.
