With the program "Reflections on Count Basie," the WDR Big Band under the direction of its principal conductor Bob Mintzer pays tribute to the successful U.S. jazz pianist and bandleader Count Basie. With this respectful and daring tribute, Mintzer masters the balancing act from the past to the present. Produced June 29, 2018 at the Philharmonie in Cologne, Germany.

Count Basie - this name stands for lived big band history. Apart from brief interruptions, Basie led his own band for almost half a century from 1935 onwards. And provided his musicians with ever novel compositions, with which he set standards in orchestral swing at the time.
