Katanagatari's first episode lays down a lot of groundwork for a story that I'd consider a masterpiece, introducing us to themes like love and purpose, hitting us with the beautiful tunes of Taku Iwasaki, and granting us our first look at beloved characters like Togame and Shichika. There is, unsurprisingly, a lot to cover in this first episode from breaking down subtext to talking about how the show introduces us to its premise, and discussing foreshadowing for future episodes - so what better way than to jump right in.

Also if you're undergoing Deja Vu, I uploaded a similar (but significantly worse) video last year. I didn't keep going with the monthly analysis because I didn't want to see "February 1st" on the video - I have a bad procrastination habit, in addition to it just being a bad video - but this time I'm really happy with it (despite the fact that I'm still a bad procrastinator *yikes*) - so even if it gets the "February 1st" date this time around, I'm gonna keep going with it and it'll be a nice inside joke for all of us haha. I needed a January 32nd to join May 32nd after all.
