"Broas de mel " or sugar cane biscuits are typical cookies from Madeira Island you can get them anywhere all year round but they are typically made and consumed at christmas time .
These cookies are really simple to make and delicious and your house will be smeling fantastic.
give them a go

1kl Plain flour
500g Sugar
250g Butter
250g Lard
4 Eggs
2 tsp. Baking soda
5 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. Nutmeg
6 tbsp. of sugar cane honey or molasses

first melt all your wet ingredients, butter, lard and honey in a pan on very low heat, leave it to cool down, then you want to get your dry ingredients mixed together so to your flour add the sugar, baking soda the cinnamon and nutmeg after all is combined you add your wet ingredients and in the end you add your eggs , mix it all well until it is well combined live it to rest 30 minutes and you are ready to make your cookies.
Put them in the oven for 15 minutes at 150/160c
