Madhubani Paintings is a Geographical Indication ( GI) tagged art, that originated in the Mithila region of Bihar and Nepal.

We started our journey from Darbhanga ( EP 1- Harish Bali Travels) then visited Madhubani to explore Madhubani paintings. We went from Madhubani to Janakpur and returned back till Sitamarhi. You will see videos of this journey as we go.

Madhubani, famous for its beautiful Madhubani Paintings, features colourful and detailed artworks portraying stories, nature, and religious themes. These paintings reflect Bihar's rich cultural tradition.

History of Mithila Paintings - Its really hard to figure out and answer this - But yes i am told by locals that these Paintings are there since Ramayana days, as the earliest form of Mithila paintings were done on the mud walls of houses when Lord Rama got married to Sita Mata ji.

Thana More Madhubani - We started our day by visiting Thana More, there is a tower where we have seen the beautiful Madhubani Art portraying the Ramayana.

In this video you will see the various types of Madhubani paintings- some examples shared in the video
Kachni art, Bharni art, Kohbar art, Godna art, Tantrik art, Though Tantrik is a style per se but its a subject of painting.

Mithila Chitrakala Sansthan - After this we travelled around 10 km and reached the Art Institute. We met Padam Shri Dulari Devi Ji, she teaches students in this institute about the Madhubani Art.

Met with Baua Devi ji - After that, we met one more Padam Shri awardee from Madhubani Mrs Baua Devi Ji who got Padam Shri for Mithila Painting in 2017.

Sanjay Ji House - After this we visited the Sanjay Ji House to understand about the Tantrik paintings.

Bansi Sweets ( Madhubani ) - After that, we visited the famous sweets shop of Madhubani - Bansi Shah and sweets and had the Rasgulla and Gulab Jamun.

Dinner at Deep Jyoti Hotel - After this, we had dinner at our Hotel Deep Jyoti and we had Rohu Fish and Rice in the Dinner.
