Times are tough, especially for small businesses that do not have much to fall back on by way of resources and assistance. Everyday, I receive numerous pleas for us to support many such neighbourhood eateries that are struggling to get by. Whilst we empathise with their situation and would like to assist as and when possible, it is imperative though that the food has to have a story to tell. We try to research the food at these small establishments, but sometimes information is hard to come by or is confusing. In which case, we literally have to drive the distance to find out for ourselves. Like we did in this vlog where we made a one-hour trek to East Bengaluru to visit Ambujam Chettinad Mess, unannounced! At this family-run eatery that dishes out a smattering of Tamil style non-vegetarian fare, and a vegetarian meal too, I enjoyed the egg semiya, a tasty nargisi kofta inspired mutton kheema ‘egg nest’ preparation, a moist chicken biryani and a peppery prawn varuval.
