Not often do we make it a point to drive through the panhandle of Oklahoma. We decided to take a different route and travel different byways for our overland trip west.

Since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped to visit the highest point in Oklahoma, Black Mesa. We stayed at the nearby campground and had turkeys that were hanging out in our campsite, curious about our set-up.

We had a great 8 mile round-trip hike to reach Black Mesa's summit. Once there, the view was a bit underwhelming, but we had a great time!
