Backpacking in the Linville Gorge Wilderness. This was a 3 day, 2 night trip where we hiked in using the Spence Ridge trail near Table Rock Mountain. Our goal was to hike in, set up a base camp and spend the next two days enjoying the scenery, fishing and simply being outside.
I feel that we fished very responsibly, only keeping two fish, one per day for lunch and quickly releasing everything else, including two small mouth bass.
Steve slept in his Tarp Tent Contrail and I in my "ultralight" travel hammock with Golite Poncho Tarp overhead.
We cooked breakfasts of oatmeal and coffee, fried small batches of fish fillets with a light breading in oil and butter, cooked rice and noodles with dried veggies and chorizo sausage for dinners, and enjoyed a hot drink before bed, all with one small pot over the campfire.
The high views are mostly from Hawksbill Mountain which could be seen and is shown from our camp site.
