I am starting a series of fly tying videos each month called “Fly of the Month” (big surprise). Each month I will tie a fly that I believe is a good fly to fish with during that month.

This month I am tying the Pure Midge Larva. This is a perfect simple but very realistic midge larva pattern that works very well during the winter. I personally like to use it in slow moving pools and runs that trout like to hold in during the dead of winter. Whether you use it in a nymph rig or under a dry this fly crushes fish!
