What killed Christian metal, hardcore and metalcore? From its humble roots in the early 90s (thanks to Tooth & Nail Records), Christian bands like Underoath, Memphis May Fire and Blessthefall were hitting the Billboard top 10 within a decade. But these days overtly Christian bands are far less common in heavy music than they were just a few years ago... what happened??

A few of the things I touch on:

- Early Christian metal and hardcore bands I discovered via Tooth & Nail such as Unashamed, Focal Point, Strongarm, Believer, Living Sacrifice, Zao and Embodyment

- The Christian hardcore/Facedown Records bands I loved like xDeathstarx, Sleeping Giant, and Seventh Star and their metalcore peers like As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, and The Devil Wears Prada

- Why IMO bands like For Today and Memphis May Fire's Matty Mullins were part of the genre's decline
