വൈകുന്നേരത്തെ ചായ കുടിക്കാൻ അമ്മ വിളിക്കുമ്പോൾ ചോദിക്കും ,"എന്താ അമ്മേ കൊറിക്കാൻ ഉള്ളത് ?".... അപ്പോൾ അമ്മ പറയും "ഒന്നുമില്ലല്ലോ എന്നാ കൊണ്ടാട്ടം കാച്ചിയാലോ" എന്ന്. ആദ്യം ഒരു നീരസം തോന്നുമെങ്കിലും അമ്മ കൊണ്ടാട്ടം വറുത്ത് പാത്രത്തിലിടേണ്ട താമസം എല്ലാവരും വന്ന് അത് വാരി കൊണ്ട് പോകും. വറുത്ത അരി കൊണ്ടാട്ടം നാവിന്റെ മുകളിൽ വച്ച് കളിക്കും (ഒരു ചെറിയ തരിപ്പ് അനുഭവപ്പെടും ) .... അങ്ങനെ കളിച്ച് ചിരിച്ച് കൊണ്ടാട്ടം തിന്ന് കഴിയുമ്പോഴേക്കും ചായ തണുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടാവും പിന്നെ ഒരൊറ്റ വലി... ചായ കാലി .... അവസാനം അമ്മയുടെ ഒരു ശകാരവും ... "കൊണ്ടാട്ടം കാച്ചാ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാ ആർക്കും വേണ്ട, ഇപ്പം പൊടി പോലും ബാക്കി ഇല്ല " ....
