Previously, I introduced two routes: the upper path (I-michi), which passes through Shuri Akahira-cho, and the lower path (Shimu-michi), which passes through Shuri-Gibo-cho. In this video, I will introduce the palace path(Udun no Suji) that connects these two routes.
This street is also called "Kunigami Udun path".
During the Ryukyu Kingdom period, the word "Udun (palace)" referred to not only a fine residence but also a family that belonged to the royal family.
The Kunigami clan (Udun) is a famous family that began with Kunigami Seitane, who was one of the three ministers during the reign of King Shosei, and was elevated to the status of royalty due to his achievements.
It is said that his family lived along this street.
Along this street, there are also the ruins of Gushi-chan Palace and Tanen, the ruins of Cai Wen's mansion.
Also, for a period after the war, this area was lined with markets and was very lively, so it was also called "Gibo Market".
I visited the Udun Alley, where the royal family and officials who worked for the Shuri Royal Palace lived.
