“Years ago, I found myself in a toxic work environment where diversity was not celebrated, but rather seen as a hindrance. I experienced discrimination and exclusion based on my background, which made me feel undervalued and unheard. However, instead of letting this negativity consume me, I rose above it. I realised that my unique perspective and experiences were valuable assets that could contribute positively to the workplace. Through perseverance and resilience, I overcame the challenges I faced and thrived in an environment that embraced diversity and inclusion”.

These were the words of Grace Ubah while narrating her negative diversity experience.

Sadly, this is the reality of many in the workplace. Gender prejudice, religious discrimination, cultural bias, etc. exist in today's business world.

But not all diversity story ends badly, right?

What is your diversity story? Positive or negative?

By sharing our diversity stories, we can foster a culture of acceptance, respect, and understanding.

To promote diversity, Boluwatife Awoleye, Khadijah Tebun, Oludolapo Agbejobi, Sisan Victor-Woko and Hannah Ufoh were given the task of creating a campaign video on diversity in the workplace as part of their Msc. coursework on Organizational Communication at the School of Media and Communication PAU. They came up with this video concept.

We invite you to watch the video, get inspired and share your diversity story in the comments section.
