eDrum nerds! How and why I use my VST’s sounds at the same time.

This video is about WHY I choose and HOW to use my drum module, currently a Roland TD50X, at the same time I’m hearing my VST, in this video, Superior Drummer3.

I’m currently using a Roland TD50X module as my base module, but when I want ‘real’, I choose SD3 or EZD3. However, what I’ve found is that while I love the sounds of a VST, I miss the punch and ‘in your face’ sounds that come from the module. By leaving ‘local control’ on inside my module, I get the best of both worlds – the punch and articulations from my module, and the realism of the VST.
Keep in mind while listening: my Roland kit has a ton of edits and added sound packs. I believe this is a Vexpression kit from Arsenal that I used alongside SD3.

Context: I’ve owned & played Vdrums nearly 30 years. I’m pretty good tweaking sounds and adding and manipulating sound packs I buy, and most of the time I’m 90% happy with my module. But, I’m an acoustic drummer at heart – I want ‘real’ sounds and the touch! For years I struggled with getting VST’s to work properly, until EZD3 came out. Through a ton of research as well as my own trial & error, I finally got EZD3 to work really well with no noticeable latency. So, earlier this year I upgraded from SD2 to SD3…HUGE improvement over SD2, but if I’m being honest, I enjoy the ease of EZD3 sometimes vs. SD3.
