A trip to Madrid had been on my Europe To-See list for ages, and last summer, I finally made it happen for a weekend in Madrid.

For 2 days in August 2019 (long before Covid-19), I explored the essential highlights of the Spanish capital's downtown: from Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace of Madrid to Almudena Cathedral and a brief tour of the Real Madrid Stadium (not to mention indulging in Madrid's famous Churros) - so feel free to consider my tips as a guide for your trip to Madrid. ;-)
