In this YouTube video, we explore the major issues facing the modern tea industry, including carbon pollution from tea production and packaging, nitrogen pollution from unsustainable fertilization practices, health hazards from agro-chemical residues on tea, and microplastics that infuse from industrial teabags into the brewed cup of tea.

The tea industry is a major contributor to global carbon emissions, due to the energy-intensive processes involved in tea production, such as firing and drying. In addition, the packaging of tea, which often involves the use of non-recyclable materials such as plastic, can also contribute to carbon emissions.

Another major issue facing the tea industry is nitrogen pollution from unsustainable fertilization practices. Tea plants require a certain amount of nitrogen in order to grow and produce leaves, but if the nitrogen levels in the soil are too high, it can lead to nitrogen pollution, which can have negative impacts on the environment and human health.

Tea plants are also often treated with agro-chemicals, such as pesticides and herbicides, in order to control pests and diseases. These chemicals can remain on the tea leaves and be ingested by consumers, which can pose a potential health hazard.

Finally, many tea bags are made from plastic materials, which can release microplastics into the brewed cup of tea. These microplastics can enter the food chain and potentially harm marine life and the environment.
