Red Dead Redemption 2 is a gigantic (and very long) game that inevitably tries to be several different things at once. While the repetitive and restrictive grind of the story missions means that only a fifth of players have seen the ending, the real star of the show is the game's open world, which constantly surprises you with interesting encounters and gives you an almost limitless amount of freedom in how you react to them. Thanks to that fact, RDR2 provides a simulation of 1899 America that is unmatched in terms of immersive potential. It's the video essay / review / critique you've been waiting your whole life for.

Footage from Red Dead Redemption 2 and Façade was recorded (and played) by me.
