Anyone who has ever picked up a paintbrush will have experienced the frustration and despair that comes when you have something you like the beginnings of and then it all goes a bit wrong! A mark feels misplaced, or a color feels conflicted against the background.

This month’s tips and tricks video comes from one of my online classes and is here to inspire you and remind you that “hey, art can be messy”. As you paint you will go through phases where you love the foundation and as you add to it, it feels like you have hit an ugly spot.

I know how that feels, this happened with many paintings in my 100 Feelings collection that came from my 100 day project.

The key takeaway from this video is just to play and relax when it comes to unlocking your creativity – to paint in the moment and just have fun.

For me, when I let all my emotions play out, the transformation through the ugly phase ends in something truly scrummy.
