The Eurasian Coot (Fulica atra) is a fascinating waterbird commonly seen in various parts of the world. It has a very distinct appearance due to its dissolute black feathers contrasting with bright white frontal shield on it’s head which makes identification easier than other aquatic birds.

The Eurasian Coot, being a good swimmer and glider can be equally discovered in lakes or ponds- some freshwater habitats where it spends most of its time due to its lobed toes that are used for efficient movement while looking for food; this bird mainly feeds by consuming aquatic weeds but does not neglect small fish and insects if they exist.
