Meet Bruno. Or as he prefers to be called, Captain Coral Man!! Bruno, with an assist from his mom & Dad, is dedicating his life to restoring the second largest coral reef in the world, which, at Xcalak, is just a couple hundred meters off the shore. Over the years the reef has taken a pounding from pollution and ocean acidification. Whole sections of it have died.
Our reef super-heroes have found an ingenious way to bring it back. While most corals grow very slowly, maybe an inch or two a year, they’re planting new corals that grow much faster. Over the past 7 years they have planted over 60,000 corals and restored over 5,000 acres of coral reef. Amazing!
Only 500,000 acres left to go. Let’s help them finish the job – before Bruno graduates from elementary school!
