Happy Birthday, America!

Sometimes we forget that America was once a band of ragtag revolutionaries fighting the mightiest army in the world – the redcoats. We were severely outgunned, but we survived, and we won. Not because we were the biggest, but because we had an intense passion for independence on our side. It was our secret weapon.

As a small American business, we at Bajío have the same independent spirit. While our competitors are wealthy foreign giants with unlimited power and resources, we are small and of modest means. On paper, there’s no way we should be winning. But we are. Why? We’re winning for many of the same reasons America won so long ago. We have the passion for independence on our side.

Our independence gives us the freedom to operate the way we believe is best - for us and for you.

It’s the freedom to keep tweaking a new product until it’s perfect, no matter how long it takes.

It’s the freedom to operate sustainably, even if it costs more to do so.

It’s the freedom to stay on the phone as long as it takes to get a customer’s issue resolved.

It’s the freedom to travel the country in a short bus making funky fishing films, even if we have to replace the transmission a few times along the way.

And it’s the freedom to invest our time and our resources in things that matter, like cleaning a beach, planting a coral, or building fishing trails in the middle of nowhere.

Our independence gives us the freedom to do what’s right, no matter what.

In the end, independence is probably the most American of all virtues. It’s freedom. It’s self-reliance. It’s accountability. It’s passion. It’s the foundation upon which great countries, and great companies, are built.
