Hi this is Carl the landscape guy. Nice to see you again. Last time we took all the Koi out of my natural pond with a seining net. I'll link that video at the end in case you missed it. I put all of the Koi into the two foldable tanks. Seining and transporting the fish worked out very well and today we want to take a closer look at the Koi. I will determine the gender of the Koi, measure them and record the results in a table. I have also decided to try and evaluate the Koi, by rating them from 1 to 5 in two different categories, color and body. I would like to emphasize that I see all fish as part of god’s creation and regard all living creatures as valuable. Nowadays in some youtube videos, animals are mistreated in my opinion because they’re only concerned about more clicks on their videos. I do not support this and would like to remind you to manage your clicks, likes and comments responsibly. But I know that most of you do and I thank you for that! When evaluating the fish I intend to determine which Koi will be sold next and which will be set back into the pond. I can't keep them all because I want to maintain a good quality of life in the natural pond. To start off I will fish out the older Koi, because they will be returned to the pond. Since my Koi remain in the pond year round, they tend to be smaller than Koi kept in warmer waters. I also don't overfeed them in general. I want to sell some of the fish, so after sorting them I’ll put those into this floating net. To build this net you can find a video on my channel. I now put all the small Koi into one tank so that I have a free one for the Koi that I want to continue raising. I will always put some in the measuring tub to take a close look at them. I enter the data such as gender, length, as well as color and body shape into my table. I change the water in between, because it easily becomes too warm in the sun. It is a bit difficult to get the Koi out of the tank without them jumping out. But I want to do it as gently as possible. It would’ve been too much to film every fish, so we’re almost done sorting them all. You can write in the comments later if you liked this Koi selection video. Maybe you have a suggestion on improvements for the next time. So my selection and sorting is done for now. The floating net is closed with the lid against predators. Now the Koi from the tank have to be put back into the pond. I will take another close look at them. In total we sorted 81 Koi, 44 males and 37 females. On average the Koi were 31.1 cm long. I put about half of the fish back into the pond. For the other half of the Koi, I’ll be looking for a new home for them. I am very pleased about the beautiful Koi and am looking forward to see how they progress next time I go through the pond with the seining net. Some Koi escaped the net this time around, but hopefully we will get to see them in the future. It would be nice to take a closer look at the white Papa-Koi. There will be more Koi videos coming, but also videos about pond and filter construction. So don't forget to subscribe. Thanks for watching, and see you later, I’m Carl the landscape guy.
