In Part 3 of our script, we contrast the fortunes of Urbain Le Verrier and John Couch Adams. Unlike Adams, Le Verrier's influential connections smoothed his path, and in September 1846, he provided precise coordinates for the search. Following his guidance, the Berlin Observatory successfully observed Neptune for the first time. Despite Adams's struggles to gain observational support, his calculations were later confirmed to be accurate, earning him recognition and credit for his work. This remarkable discovery marked Neptune as the first and only planet found through the power of mathematics.
