Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez both netted twice as Inter Miami dominated their Florida rivals Orlando City 5-0 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.

Messi secured back-to-back goals early in the second half, bringing his season tally to three goals in as many games. Suárez, at 37, joined Messi at Inter Miami after their six-year stint as teammates at Barcelona and made an immediate impact with two goals and two assists in his third MLS match.

Suárez, boasting a prolific career with 381 club goals over 19 seasons, scored his first two MLS goals within a seven-minute span in the first half. Robert Taylor added the fifth goal for Inter Miami (2-0-1, 7 points), marking the first time in the club's history that they remain unbeaten in their first three games. Orlando City's record dropped to 0-1-1.

In just four minutes, Suárez capitalized on Messi's long pass to Julian Gressel, slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Seven minutes later, the Gressel-Suárez connection struck again, as Suárez navigated past the defense to score from 12 yards.

Suárez turned provider in the 29th minute, setting up Taylor with a precise cross. Messi joined the scoring spree with a goal in the 57th minute, tapping in Suárez's deflected shot. The duo combined once more in the 62nd minute, with Suárez's cross finding Messi's header to complete the scoring.

Tensions flared as Suárez exchanged words with Orlando players during the halftime break. Inter Miami, with seven matches ahead, is on a busy schedule, while Messi is also called up for two exhibition games in the United States later in March.

Coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino mentioned on Friday that Messi's playing time would be carefully managed. Inter Miami will also participate in the Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 against Nashville SC, adding to their five league matches. Argentina, led by Messi, will face El Salvador and Costa Rica as a prelude to Copa America later in the summer.

Before kickoff, Jaime Herrera replaced Guilherme Ceretta as the center referee due to potential conflicts of interest arising from social media photos featuring Ceretta.
