The 2023 Southport Pro-Am, held on Monday, 31 July, was an exhilarating showcase of golfing excellence and a day filled with camaraderie and excitement. Hosted at the picturesque Southport Golf Club on the captivating Gold Coast, the event left spectators in awe as they witnessed outstanding performances by the players.

Among the remarkable competitors, James Conran emerged as the victor, displaying his talent and dedication to the sport. Conran’s journey in golf began in Orange, where he honed his skills and later became a member of the prestigious NSW men’s amateur squad. His stellar play was nothing short of spectacular as he carded an impressive 6-under 65 to secure the title, finishing two shots ahead of the seasoned Tour professional, David Bransdon. This extraordinary win marked a significant milestone in Conran’s illustrious golfing career.

The Southport Golf Club’s captivating layout, though relatively short by modern standards, proved to be a formidable challenge for the players. With strategic water hazards posing a constant threat, only 13 players out of the 59-strong field managed to break par. The demanding conditions highlighted the exceptional skill and tenacity of Conran and his fellow competitors.
