Very excited by the Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery prompt for the month of June which is to create a slow stitch vessel or bowl.
The version I’m going to share with you is very easy to make from little scraps of fabric on a felt or blanket base, and to decorate with simple slow stitching stitches.
My piece is inspired by a poem by the incredible Mary Walker titled Wild Fruit. Please check out Mary Walker’s website and instagram:

In this episode I will be embellishing the first section of the outside of the slow stitch vessel to represent the first stanza of the poem.

With thanks to Rachel @roxycreations679 and Sarah @roxycreationsbysarah for yet another fun project prompt! So many ideas whizzing around my head! I don’t believe you will ever run out of great ideas!
With thanks too to Annie Claxton @artyfartyannie who got me started on this fabric panel as part of her Colour inspirations project earlier this year.
I hope you enjoy following along with this idea and tutorial to make an easy slow stitch container or vessel using scraps of fabric. And maybe you want to take a poem or piece of writing as inspiration too!
Here’s a link to another slow stitch fabric container - this time a bowl made from pentagons:
