Tringalwadi fort stands close to Tringalwadi village near Igatpuri in Nashik district. There are two ways to reach Tringalwadi which is situated near Mumbai Nashik Highway. One is from Igatpuri village and another is from Ghoti. The trek can be started from the Talyachi Vadi which is 10 km from Igatpuri. The distance from Igatpuri to Tringalwadi is 7 km. The route from Igatpuri to Talyachi wadi goes from Tringalwadi - Patryachi Wadi. The distance from Tringalwadi to Talyachi Wadi is 3 km.

Some start the trek from Tringalwadi. After Crossing the wall of Tringalwadi dam which is behind the Tringalwadi village, the path on the right leads to ancient Jain caves. It takes 1 hour to reach the fort from Tringalwadi village. I reached Talyachi Wadi by bike. The trek is very easy and it takes 40 minutes to reach the fort from the talyachi wadi. The path leads to the Jain caves through the fields from the pond behind the talyachi wadi village.
After 10-15 minutes walk from Talyachi Wadi, reaches the foot hill of Tringalwadi fort. There are 10th century Jain caves here. This shows that the fort is ancient.
It has a large hall and a gabhara in the main cave. Here is a broken idol of Lord Adinath, the first Tirthankar in Jainism. Three of the four pillars in the main cave have fallen. There is a water tank near this cave. It takes about half an hour to reach the fort from here.
The route from the foothills to the left takes you to the plateau in 15 minutes. A little further, we reach the fort's Rocky patch. From here two routes lead to the fort. The path on the left leads to the steps and darwaja is carved in a single rock.
The stairs on the path to the right are easy. I went to the fort from this way. There are the remains of the fortification near these stairs. After climbing a little further, you can see the remains of the fort.
Tringalwadi fort was built to keep control on the Konkan Nashik trade route. In 1636, under the cede of Mahuli, Shahaji Raje had to give this fort to the Mughals. This fort was one of the 18 forts handed over to the British after the defeat of Trumbakgad in 1818.
At Western entrance, the steps and the door are carved out of a solid rock. A 6 feet large idol of Hanuman is carved near the door. Two
Sharabhas are carved on the door. Remains of old objects can be seen on the fort. There is a cave and a water tank dug in the rock to the east side of the hill. To the north of the fort is a Shiva temple.
From the fort, one can see the reservoirs of Tringalwadi dam, Kalsubai, Harihar, Bhaskargad. The fort round is completed in about 40-50 minutes.

Distance between Pune Igatpuri Tringalwadi Talyachi wadi is 260 km. Mumbai to Igatpuri Tringalwadi is 130 km. Nashik Tringalwadi is 54 km.
Along with Tringalwadi, Kavanai fort can be visited in one day.
