This festival is set in the traditional mountain village of Alpedrinha in Fundão, Central Portugal. This year was the first time I went to this festival and it was a lot of fun! Ill definitely be back for more next year!!!

Chocalhos is a festival for the shepherds who take their flocks down from the Serra da Estrela mountains to the low lying lands of Idanha nova.

In the hot summers they take the sheep up the mountains where its cooler and there is more grass, but in the winters they need to bring them down before the extreme cold and snow sets in.
