Another great example why gill nets are illegal in Namibia and many other countries. It is a known fact that gill nets cause immense suffering and, once caught, do not let any animal get away, even if the animal is not the targeted catch. Gill nets are designed to do this. Countless dolphins, seals, turtles, fish and other marine animals are losing their lives as collateral damage of the fishing industry.
The rescuers have a difficult task - they need to peel gill net out of the seal's mouth. They know they have to hurt the animal to free it and that they will be exposed to the dangerous teeth of a cornered seal. It is a complicated rescue but she is an amazing patient and the team shows great team work when they slowly peel piece after piece of gill net out of her face. the rescue takes longer than the usual catch and cut approach, but eventually she is free to go back to the ocean to continue her life.
Denzil hurt his finger when operating our new plastic recycling machines. He needed 5 stitches, but by now he is as good as new. Nothing gets "The Flash" down. 🦭
