I forgot to switch my camera off after trying to do a quick recap of the show so far. A nice lady and her two daughters (17? and 14) walked up to my table and we started talking. At first I thought it was going to be short since her kids were older than my book range on the table, but the conversation evolved into me trying to inspire her youngest daughter (Samantha) into chasing her dream of being an artist. These moments are exactly why I go to small shows and interact with folks. I'm actually very happy I captured this on camera.
Book writing and publishing may not make me rich, but I always feel more fulfilled after having interactions like this with parents and kids. The only regret I have is that I never took a picture of them with the books they bought. My camera stayed behind a book display, so it wasn't visible to the customers.
