Hatcher Park and Marshalltown Marsh, together comprising 300 acres of degraded wetlands and park space, present a significant opportunity to restore habitat, absorb and filter floodwaters, provide recreation areas for residents, and make Gary more resilient in the face of pollution and climate change. A kick off event for Audubon Great Lakes and partners restoration was held on Earth Day 2023 at Hatcher Park with Rep Hatcher, community members and project partners.
