This session will highlight the importance and current state of building codes, standards, assessment frameworks, and certification schemes in delivering global climate goals.
It will also develop a global Whole Life Carbon and Resilience Framework that sets out principles for the alignment of existing standards and supports their effective implementation.
The session presents the results of a mapping exercise to assess the current state of alignment and how alignment on standards can support alignment on rating tools and inform effective policy.
It will also explore practical and proven steps that different value-chain stakeholders can take to ensure globally agreed principles support the development and deployment of national or subnational codes and standards. It will also aim to build consensus and commitment from different actors to accelerate efforts to replicate these approaches, with a focus on regions where policies are non-existent, unenforced or lacking in ambition and scope.
