남강을 가진 '진주성', 가락지 영웅 논개를 만나다.

1592년 임진왜란 당시, 김시민 장군이 3,800여명의 적은 군사로 2만명의 왜군을 물리친 임진왜란 3대첩지의 하나인 진주대첩을 이룬 곳이다. 또한 논개가 적장을 껴안고 투신한 의암이 자리한 곳이기도 하다.

진주성에 들어가자마자 눈을 맑게 해주는 넓고 푸르른 잔디밭에 펼쳐진 돗자리. 이곳은 이미 도심 속의 공원으로 자리 잡은 모습이다.

진주성의 상징인 촉석루는 임진왜란 시 지휘본부로 활용된 곳인데, 미국CNN에서 한국 방문 시 꼭 가봐야 할 곳 50선에 선정되었다고 한다.

남강과 의암, 진주성과 어우러진 모습은 천하의 절경,

논개가 왜장을 안고 뛰어내린 바위인 ‘의암’이 자리하고 있었다.

그곳에 올라서서 논개의 투신장면을 흉내 내는 관광객을 보며 지금은 웃고 있지만 "그녀가 이 바위 아니었다면 어찌 죽을 곳을 얻고, 이 바위 그녀가 아니었다면 어찌 의로움을 들었겠는가.(의암사적비 비문 中)

'Jinjuseong' with Namgang meets Garakji hero Nongae.

This is the place where General Kim Si-min defeated 20,000 Japanese soldiers with 3,800 enemy soldiers during the 1592 Imjin Invasion, which is one of the three major spies of the Imjin Invasion. It is also the place where Uiam, where Nongae hugged the enemy field and devoted himself to it.

As soon as you enter Jinjuseong Fortress, a mat spread out on a wide green lawn that clears your eyes. This place has already been established as a park in the city center.

The symbol of Jinju Castle, Chokseokru, was used as the command center during the Imjin War, and it is said to have been selected as one of the 50 must-visit places by CNN in the US
